E-government is one of the priority areas of the new eTEN call for proposals
The European Commission launched on 20/5/2003 a new Call for Proposals under the
eTEN Programme for projects of common interest in the field of trans-European
telecommunications networks. The call focuses on projects in the domains of
eGovernment, eHealth, eInclusion, eLearning and Trust and Security services.
Economic governance 2003-2005
For the first time, the European Commission has adopted proposals,
simultaneously and in streamlined form, for the broad economic policy guidelines
and for the employment guidelines and recommendations in order to ensure greater
cohesion and effectiveness of the EU reform agenda in the medium term
(2003-2005).

The closing date for abstract submissions to the 3rd European Conference on
e-Government (ECEG 2003) is 28 March. The conference this year is being held on
the 2-3 July at Trinity College Dublin.
The 9th GCC e-Government, Telecom and Internet Forum

With a focus on the skills, applications and technology needed for regional GCC
e-government projects, this event brings together public sector and industry
partners to identify opportunities, create innovative solutions and implement
effective online citizen services.
Italy hosts high level eGovernment conference
A high level eGovernment conference will take place from 7 to 8 July at Lake
Como, Italy.
Ministers and senior representatives from public administration authorities will
gather to discuss Europe's position in the ever-evolving field of eGovernment.
They will also look at interactive public eServices currently available and
examine how citizens and businesses can benefit most from these services both
now and in years to come.
The conference will exhibit examples of currently used interactive eGovernment
applications in Europe.
An awards ceremony will also take place during the event, focusing on 'good
practices in improving public eServices and transforming government'.
The conference is being organised by the European Commission and the Italian EU
presidency as part of the eEurope activities.
