Objective:

To continue learning, processing information and applying knowledge in a positive way. A specific objective at this time is to strengthen my links with Europe and the rest of the Western world, and to become more of a bridge between Romania and its European ideal.

Education:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of York, York, United Kingdom (graduated 1995);

  •  Currently working on PhD thesis (research area is teleworking / information systems in organizations from a European perspective and its implications on economy and society, with an emphasis on Romania). Thesis is to be completed in 2002.

Work experience:

  •  2000-present, assistant lecturer, Economics Department, West University of Timisoara;

  • 1997-1999, teaching assistant, Economics Department, West University of Timisoara;

  • 1995-1997, Timisoara Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Department of European Integration and Programmes Co-ordination as coordinator of the World Environment Centre Eco-Efficiency Programme for Western Romania and person in charge of BRE co-operation (Bureau de Rapprochement des Entreprises, European Commission, DG XXIII).

Other points of interest:

Between 1990 and 1992 I was the first Eastern-European pupil to be awarded a scholarship by a British school to study at ‘A’ (Advanced) level in the UK.

In 1991 I took part in the Oxford session of the European Youth Parliament as the first Romanian to ever attend that forum. My contribution was appreciated in very kind words by the President and organizers of the event as well as by the Romanian Ambassador at the time, Mr. Sergiu Celac.

Since then I have been part of a number of activities aimed at raising awareness of European issues in Romania. I have contributed, through research, to gaining better knowledge of specific Romanian issues in economics, business and business culture. I have also taken part in other activities, such as the World Bank’s Global Development Conference in Tokyo, December 2000.

Other areas of expertise:

Computer skills:

  • Microsoft Windows 98/2000, NT, XP, application suites (MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and complex integration between them, Corel, as well as numerous other applications, particularly Internet-related), working knowledge of Linux/Unix platforms, long-time user experience with mobile computing platforms;

  • Very experienced Internet user and researcher.

Foreign languages:

  • English – excellent;

  • French – good.
